Wireless Networks, because term indicates can be a set of networks that work without using any wires. Wireless Networks are just employed for communication purposes, over wireless voice networks like mobiles and telephone networks. For example CPDP (Cellular Digital Packet Data), HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched Data), PDC-P (Packet Data Cellular) and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service).
Some other wireless networks work with its physical networks from large antenna devices mounted on the towers like LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution Service) and MMDS (Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service). Bluetooth is the one other technology that work well only on small devices over short distances.
Wireless Networks usually run over other networks and utilize lower layer networks for security and encryption. On the contrary, Stand alone these either have their own security and encryption features or depend upon the Virtual Private Networks (VPN's) for a similar. In rare cases, multiple layers are used by security and encryption. There are some wireless networks which are fixed that is their antennas tend not to move frequently, whereas some are mobile which enable it to easily move and work while changing the direction in the antennas. and work on licensed or unlicensed ranges of the frequency spectrums.
Wireless Networks may be further categorized into 2 types, the Wide Area Network (WAN) along with the Local Area Network (LAN). Wide Area Networks include the networks useful for communication purposes like used by various telecom companies for mobiles. These make use of the modern technologies like GSM /GPRS. On another, Wireless Local Area Networks provide wireless connectivity in a limited area. It has its application in high data transfer useage rate frequently used in hospitals and industries. It makes use of the latest technology like WiFi.
These networks offer an edge on the other networks that means it is most frequently used. Some of its features like convenience to work with, mobility of use, productivity at work, ease in deployment and it is cheap cost ensure it is rank outstanding among other networks.
